Hi, I'm Marmalade, but you can call me Maia.
I am a cosplayer and Idol from Meanjin, Brisbane Australia, currently living in Tokyo, Japan. I fell in love with designing costumes through discovering cosplaying in 2014, starting out small, but my love for crafting has grown exponentially over the years and it has allowed me to express myself creatively in so many ways.
I create work based around costume creation and document my art on multiple social media platforms, to a niche audience of people interested in costume design.
Academically, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film) from QUT, which has significantly influenced my approach to storytelling in my documentation of my works. I apply these skills to my YouTube channel, where I script, film, and edit my own videos, sharing my artistic journey and experiences as a creative in Australia and Japan. Through this platform, I have built a personal connection with my audience—many of whom are also artists navigating their own creative paths. My goal is to share my journey with authenticity, offering insight into both the triumphs and challenges of pursuing an artistic career especially despite not being from a wealthy background.
I frequently travel to conventions around the world to judge cosplay contests, live performances and share my crafting knowledge through panels.
